Our Therapies

At Alton Chiropractic, we want to do everything we can to help you meet your health-related goals. In addition to chiropractic, we offer in-office therapies and at home-advice that serves as a fantastic complement to your care. With our many healing modalities, we’ll speed up your recovery times. Below, you can read about our therapies that may be recommended as a part of your care.

Electric Muscle Stimulation

If you have an injury, the muscles of the body will tighten up. Electrical muscle stimulation is a machine that has attached wires with pads at the end, which can be applied to the area of concern. An electrical current travels to the pads to decrease muscle-related problems. The benefits include decreased pain and reduced tenderness.

Intersegmental Traction

If any part of your back feels tight, you’ll love the benefits of intersegmental traction. It’s a table you lie on that contains rollers inside of it. These rollers stretch over the length of your entire spine, moving all the way down to your hips and back up again. Only a light pressure is applied so there is no pain. It stretches out your body and helps loosen up tight muscles.

Spinal decompression is well-known for being a nonsurgical alternative to treat disc-related issues. It addresses your entire spine, from neck to low back. FDA-approved, it gently applies relaxing and distracting forces, allowing your disc to be under negative pressure. When this occurs, the disc will go back where it should be. Plus, it has a high success rate!

If you’re interested in spinal decompression, we’ll discuss it with you at your initial consultation. The examination will tell us if you’re a candidate. If so, we’ll take it one visit at a time to see how you’re responding. You’ll lie on a comfortable table and be strapped in. There is no pain, and people say they get fantastic relief from spinal decompression.

There is an array of options for rehabilitation located at our office. The tools we have include a Posture Pump, Vibration Platform and elastic bands for stretching and strengthening. We’ll recommend them to you as appropriate, then show you how to use the equipment or perform the exercise correctly. All are designed to restore your range of motion, particularly in the neck and back.

Many people are unsure when to apply heat and when ice is best. We’ll give you home instructions on which is best for you. Ice will bring down swelling and inflammation, while moist heat will loosen things up. Heat should not be used within the first 72 hours of an injury.

How long will it take for me to see results?

Because each patient is different, it’s hard to say until we can evaluate you and your specific needs in the practice. Rest assured, we’ll compose the perfect care plan that your body needs for success and natural healing.
Will a combination of therapies be used in my sessions?

It’s possible! We’ll make the best recommendations for what your body needs to experience natural results, which may include a combination of the therapies we offer in addition to chiropractic adjustments.
I've had a therapy work well for me in the past-can I have it here, too?

Absolutely, so long as it is a part of our offering. We encourage patients to let us know what type of adjustment style they prefer or if any therapies we offer have worked well for them in the past. We want you to be an active partner in your care.
